I started my cocktail journey in the Alps in Verbier as a seasonaire at the highly regarded Hotel Farinet.
I had the pleasure of watching some masters at work in the world-renowned Lounge Bar and used to love watching these barmen from all over the world effortlessly getting out top quality cocktails in huge numbers. Some of the stuff they were doing blew me away and I really wanted to learn more about the techniques and flavours - it was here my love of the art was formed.
Since those early days in Switzerland, I've always tried to incorporate variations on big flavours in my cocktail menus that still suit whichever business I was going into; from bespoke gin menus in some of Londons finest pubs, to seasonal and sustainable menus for some of Londons most esteemed events companies, or something a little edgier in one of Shoreditch's top cocktail bars.
I have now branched away from designing cocktails for other companies and I am looking to bring my ideas to the people.
The aim of Mixology with Olly is to build a community of like-minded people with not just a love for a cocktail but with a love for experiencing new flavours and combinations.
I want to teach people recipes but first and foremost I want people to have fun!
